FAQ

Questions parents ask

Short answers, and a way to ask anything we missed.

Does my child need to use a screen?

No. The small display shows the cover while the book prints, then goes dark. Your child never reads on the device and there is nothing to tap or scroll.

What if my child doesn't give an ending?

MirthTale's AI writes one. We designed it never to press a child for details. Whatever your child does give, characters, problems, or endings, is kept exactly.

Who writes the story?

Your child makes the creative choices: the character, the setting, the adventure, and the ending if they have one. MirthTale's AI writes the story and illustrates it from those choices. The title on the cover is always the child's, with their name underneath.

What is a Story Pack?

A small physical insert that sets the world, its setting and supporting characters. Your child still chooses the hero. See the Story Packs page for the current worlds.

Can two children of different ages share a story?

Yes. Drag the age setting and the same idea is generated into a different book. Siblings can invent one story and each take home a book that fits them.

How is the book bound?

Pages are folded and sealed along the spine so the book opens flat and holds together through repeated reading.

Does it need Wi-Fi or an app?

It plugs in and works with one button. We will publish full connectivity details before shipping, and there is no app your child needs to use.

Where is MirthTale made?

MirthTale is designed in Berlin, Germany, where the company was founded in 2026. Manufacturing details for the first run will be shared with reserve-list members.

Is my child's voice stored?

We are designing MirthTale to keep as little as possible. Our Privacy Policy explains what is processed and why, and we will update it before any device ships.

When can I buy one?

We are building the first run. Join the reserve list and we will write to you when yours is ready, and never before.
